Reflections from 2023

Hello friends!

What a year it has been! Though 2023 was a year filled with ups and downs, we are thankful to God for His sustaining power, and we look forward with excitement and anticipation to what God has in store for 2024.

As always we want to say a big thank you for your support of this foundation; because of your generosity, we are reaching more people and changing more lives.

Please enjoy our final newsletter of 2023, and we can’t wait to see you all in 2024!

What is Your Story

By Rev Dr. Huntley Brown

There is an old hymn that says.

This is my story, this is my song.
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song.
Praising my Savior all the day long

What is your story?

We just went through the Christmas season where we talked about the shepherds’ story. The shepherds were the only ones in the field that night, but here we are thousands of years later still talking about their story.

Why?

Because they shared their story. You can read all about their story in Luke chapter 2.

You might say you have a negative story that you want to forget. There is another song that says I don’t wanna write this song, I don’t want this pain to be my story.

The song says “I don’t want this pain to be my story” and maybe that’s your story too.

So the question is what do you need to do for a negative past not to be your story?

You have to be intentional in addressing the past and then leaving the past behind.

Do not allow your past to hold your present hostage. This means you must deal with the past.

Have you dealt with your past?

If not do that today. You are about to enter a new season, one filled with numerous possibilities and you want to start with a blank slate. Take the next few days to address the past and then meditate on the good news found in this verse.

Psalms 103:12 ‬‭NIV‬‬

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Today, God has given you time and space to write a new story.

What story will you write this year?

Blessings,

Huntley

Your Journey to Health

By Marion Boomer-Hauser, MS, RD, HBF Director

Christmas is a time of renewal, a time to cherish the beauty of life, the love of friends and family, and the amazing possibilities that lie ahead.

Over the past year, I have shared ways to strengthen your body and maintain good health. I want to encourage you to take a moment to appreciate the progress you have made this year. Each step, no matter how small, is a testament to your strength and determination.

Amid the challenges, let’s not forget to embrace the joy that the holiday season brings. Let’s find joy in the little things that surround us – the laughter of little ones, the twinkle of Christmas lights, or simple quiet moments alone. Find the joy.

Our health is a precious gift. We encourage you to nurture it with care and appreciate the strength that is within you and remember that each day is an opportunity for renewal and repair.

God tells us to take care of our bodies in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “…do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body…”

Our journeys toward health and healing are ongoing – so let’s welcome the close of this year and the beginning of next year seeing the opportunities for positive changes and growth. Take stock of where you are and where you are headed. Simple changes like reducing screen time, spending time with real people, eating fresh food, cooking at home, praying regularly, and actively moving your body will all contribute to a healthier version of you! Have an attitude of gratitude and spread the love of Jesus wherever you go!

On behalf of the Huntley Brown Foundation, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for sharing this journey with us. May this holiday season be a time of joy, peace, and rejuvenation for you and those you love.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with hope, healing, and love.

Blessings,

Marion

Ministry Update

Year End Summary

This year for the Huntley Brown Foundation has been one of growth and expansion. We added an administrative internship position that has been rewarding in helping to grow our social media presence and also to help in alignment with our mission statement to train up a future generation. Nicole has been a welcomed addition to the team and will begin next year the process of onboarding and training our next upcoming intern.

The Foundation had several requests for academic scholarship musical instruments. Two musical instrument scholarships were awarded to the Soul Mission Outreach Ministries in St. Ann Jamaica, and the Community Good News Club in Ghana, West Africa.

Music Bootcamp

Huntley Brown Foundation is working in collaboration with the Love Family Christian Foundation to create the first Music Initiative with the Cheesefield Community in Kingston Jamaica. This will include a virtual music seminar and virtual music lesson for the participants. This initial program will create a template we hope to expand into other areas.

Worship Seminar

Plans are underway for the first Huntley Brown Foundation Worship Seminar in Tanzania in the Spring of 2025. This will be a combined virtual and live seminar.

Where Are They Now

Recent Huntley Brown Foundation Scholarship recipients have been spotted doing great things.

Shamaine Williams a 2022 recipient, recently graduated from Judson University, with a BS degree in Biochemistry.

Matthew McFarlane, a 2023 recipient- is doing great things musically and continues to use his equipment scholarship to bless others in the community with his musical talents as he worships at local events.

The Huntley Brown Foundation seeks to spread God’s love through the gift of music. This past year we have impacted the lives of individuals around the globe through the gifts of musical instruments and financial resources to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope that you will join us in our mission to equip individuals with the tools that they need for worship in their daily lives. Thank you for your support of our work and our mission.
